These services are often deployed across different subaccounts. It's possible to manage users and roles separately in each subaccount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it is also possible to centralize user and role management by using a single identity service by establishing trust between the identity service and BTP subaccounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This post will guide you through setting up role collection mappings between BTP and Identity Authentication Service (IAS). This allows you to manage role collections for multiple subaccounts from a single identity provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an identity provider, you can configure it as a custom provider for a BTP subaccount. It can be used as the source for users and role collections.<br>There are some prerequisites for setting up role collection mappings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must have the Subaccount Administrator role in the subaccount that will be linked (trusted) with SAP Cloud Identity Services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The SAP Cloud Identity Services tenant can be subscribed to in a different subaccount, but it must be part of the same global account and in the same region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can follow the steps in this SAP Help document to configure the trust between your subaccount and the SAP IAS tenant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <a href=\"https:\/\/help.sap.com\/docs\/conversational-ai\/integration-with-sap-s-4hana\/configure-saml-trust-between-sap-btp-subaccount-and-ias?locale=de-DE\">You can follow the steps in this SAP Help document to configure the trust between your subaccount and the SAP IAS tenant:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: To be able to use the role collection mapping, you must log in to the application with a user that is defined in the identity provider. <em><u>- Not with a BTP user.<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Configurations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>BTP Role Collections<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Before creating a role collection mapping, make sure that you have the necessary role to access \u201cRole Collections\u201d in your subaccount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&lt;Ihr Subaccount&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; \u2192&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Security&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2192&nbsp;&nbsp; Role Collections&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use default role collections that are defined for the standard BTP applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, you can create a new custom role collection by clicking on the Create button in the top right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/rhein-ruhr-informatik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rhein-ruhr-informatik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image.png 945w, https:\/\/rhein-ruhr-informatik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image-300x143.png 300w, https:\/\/rhein-ruhr-informatik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image-768x367.png 768w, https:\/\/rhein-ruhr-informatik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image-18x9.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>SAP BTP Role Collections<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this example, a new custom role collection called \u201cMy_Custom_Role\u201d is created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SAP Cloud Identity Services<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Before starting to configure role collection mapping, we must ensure that we send necessary attributes to the application. You can also choose your BTP custom role collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For \u201cAttribute\u201d, you should write what you defined in IAS as a Groups attribute (2).
